S1.1 - Sailing into the Horizon: Embarking on the Maiden Voyage of a Lifetime!

Go or No-Go Day: Navigating the Unexpected Beginnings of our Sailing Odyssey

Picture this: a duvet cover caper, a galley trash can hunt that rivals a treasure quest, and a race against time to secure insurance. It's the kind of chaos that could rival a sitcom plot, but this was our reality on the eve of setting sail.

As we tackled the checklist from last minute provisions to snore room essentials, we found ourselves at the mercy of sailing superstitions and the clock. Byron, our resident superstitious sailor, wasn't thrilled about a Friday departure, and we had set ourselves a no-go time of 7:00pm.

With Ryan's determination and a touch of liquid courage in the form of a farewell glass of champagne, the insurance paperwork was miraculously signed at 6:30 pm. We sprinted for takeout like it was the last meal on earth, and at 6:54 pm, we triumphantly pushed off the dock.

Here we go!

All these months of meticulous preparation and planning condensed into a fleeting moment.  Blink, and you'd miss it.

Sailing Away Into the Blue with Lucky Enough

As the sun set on our first day at sea, captured from our specially named "time out seat with benefits", we couldn't help but feel the magic of the beginnings of something monumental and very special with the subtle realization that sailing might just be the best therapy.

Join us on the maiden voyage through the Bay of Biscay as we navigate through a series of "Firsts" and eagerly embrace all the adventures that lie ahead.  With an indescribable blend of emotions - happiness, excitement, peace, and a profound sense of accomplishment with a touch of ‘holy shit we’re doing this’ factor - we embark on this extraordinary journey.  This is the start of our sailing saga, a tale filled with unpredictability, camaraderie, and the promise of many hours on the Time Out seat with Benefits!
