Between S1-S2: From Ancient Ruins to Hockey and Everything In Between: Our Wild Hiatus Adventure!

Oct 2023 – Feb 2024:
Before diving headfirst into our second season on Lucky Enough, we want to send a heartfelt shoutout to our amazing friends and family. Your unwavering support means the world to us as we navigate this incredible journey. During our well-deserved break on land, we caught up on all sorts of doctor’s appointments and began packing for Season 2. But let's get to the juicy part...

First off, we played tourist in Athens, exploring the iconic Acropolis. Trust me, those ancient Greeks really knew how to pick a spot with a view. Rocky outcrop? Check. Epic historical vibes? Double check.

Next, we jetted off to Germany to catch a Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) game. Watching the Düsseldorfer EG battle the Frankfurt Lions was a thrill – those fans really know how to cheer. It was like Oktoberfest with a puck!

From there, it was bonjour Paris! We spent a couple of weeks soaking in the Parisian charm, indulging in wine and cheese (because, why not?), and revisiting our favorite spot – Trocadéro, with its breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower.

We also ventured into the eerie yet fascinating Catacombs, home to millions of meticulously stacked bones. Talk about getting a skeletal education!

An 1809 comment in the visitors’ guestbook reads... “I visited the true temple of equality… we are all equal in the face of death”.

Back in Scottsdale, we reveled in the spacious luxury of our condo, especially the kitchen. Seriously, after living on a boat, having more than two square feet of counter space feels like winning the lottery. We caught up with friends and family, hosted a holiday happy hour,

Merry Christmas!

made three trips back to Canada (because one just isn’t enough), and even helped with a move – proving once again that we can handle more than just nautical challenges.

A Canadian favorite we just can’t pass up

Our hiatus was packed with fun: we marveled at the Barrett-Jackson car show (complete with a Foreigner concert – talk about a blast from the past),

Enjoying Foreigner Concert

enjoyed countless dinners filled with laughter at local restaurants, and laughed even harder at comedy club evenings. We also caught an Oilers game at thevASU Arena, where the sea of Oiler fans made us feel right at home. Go Oilers!

On the scuba front, I passed my confined water PADI course (while Ryan re-certified) - a HUGE accomplishment for me to conquer that fear, and we celebrated Dad's birthday in person – a rare and special treat.

To cap it all off, we had an unforgettable trip to Las Vegas. The U2 concert at the Sphere was mind-blowing,

complete with a special VIP tour of the new Fontainebleau Hotel,

…including a rooftop view that was pure magic.

And as if that wasn’t enough, we were wowed by the Cirque de Soleil “O” show at the Bellagio.

Stay tuned for more adventures as we embark on Season 2 of Lucky Enough! Our spirits are high, our bags are packed, and our sense of humor is ready for whatever comes next. Cheers!
