S1.25 - Picturesque Journey and Making New Friends
Sept 15 -
Captured a few great coastal pics on our 10 hour sail today:
We secured a mooring ball in Canale (Porto Skrofa) with the help of Giuseppe and his assistant. They were incredibly friendly and even offered to take us ashore for dinner at Giuseppe's restaurant.
Dressed in a pretty dress and Ryan in a nice shirt and shorts, we awaited Giuseppe's arrival. His 'chariot' turned out to be a small, worn fishing boat, accompanied by his English-speaking son and a friend. The journey through his fish farm to a rickety dock, to a stroll through a pasture following a cow path felt like the start of a mystery adventure. We joked about the eerie setting and how overdressed we were for the occasion.
The path led us to an open-concept restaurant right on the beach, which was charming until we were besieged by mosquitos. The bottle of bug spray on the table should have been a warning. After some frantic swatting, the server brought us a large fan, which finally allowed us to enjoy our meal.
We soon noticed another couple, also battling the mosquitos. Inviting Pantelis and Lly (pronounced Lilly) to join us, we discovered they were moored nearby in their Fountain Pigot Catamaran. After dinner, they kindly offered us a ride back in their dinghy and joined us for a bottle of wine aboard Lucky Enough. The evening ended on a high note, with wonderful conversation and new friends, making the day's adventure all the more memorable.
