S1.3 - Anchored Bliss: Exploring First Town, First Tender Rides and Lazy Ocean Sunsets
We spent the next 2 days anchored in the bay called Bahia de La Concha. When the morning of day-1 practically begged for shorts and skirts, we knew it was going to be a day worth celebrating. With the sun kissing the sky, Ryan and Byron wasted no time, initiating the "First Tender Release and their First Tender Ride" to drive Olivier to town for his 10-hour train ride home.
The sense of accomplishment lingered as we basked in the warmth of our first morning at anchorage. Energized by the sea breeze and a successful breakfast, we transformed into a well-oiled cleaning machine. The boys took charge of the exterior, while us girls delved into the nooks and crannies of Lucky Enough's interior. With the vessel gleaming, we decided to reward ourselves with a trip into town, and for me, it was my inaugural ride on the tender – a mini adventure of its own.
The town unfolded its charm, and our rumbling stomachs led us to a delightful square where we indulged in tapas, beer, and some mouthwatering sangrias. Satisfied and slightly tipsy, we decided to save more exploring for tomorrow, choosing instead to retreat to the comforts of Lucky Enough for a lazy afternoon.
As the sun hung high in the sky, we reveled in our First Refreshing Ocean Swim. The bow (which will now be referred to as “our patio”) became our perch, adorned with FatBoys and laughter. The perfect recipe for an idyllic afternoon.
Despite our intentions to witness the sunset, exhaustion got the better of us, and we surrendered to the gentle rock of the boat, lulled to sleep by the intermittent swells of the bay.
After a night that still fell short of being the best sleep ever as our local bar decided to rock the night away until the wee hours of 6 am mixed in with the sounds of Search and Rescue helicopters and vessels near our anchorage stirred us from our dreams. While the rest of the crew succumbed to the lull of sleep, Ryan and I decided to seize the moment: with Ryan planning our next sail and me accomplishing a major milestone – completing my PADI e-Learning Course! (Ya ME!)
Undeterred by the lack of shut-eye, we ventured into town for a walkabout, capturing the essence of our vessel, Lucky Enough, anchored gracefully in the bay. Lunch at a quaint local spot rejuvenated our spirits, proving that even a lack of sleep couldn't dull the charm of the island.
Despite the nighttime disruptions, the island continued to weave its magic. The lingering echoes of the local bar's late-night jamming session were replaced by the allure of the next day's possibilities.
