S1.5 - Sailing to Gijón: Dolphins, Sunsets & Gijón Delights
June 2-3: Our journey continued as we set sail from Balboa around 1 pm, eager to harness the wind and embrace the open sea.
Bilbao to Gijón
The sails were unfurled, and under the capable hands of Ryan and Byron, Lucky Enough surged to our First 9 knots, with the Code D billowing like a proud flag. As the wind lulled, the calm seas greeted us, making for a tranquil and pleasant cruise.

First Time Over 9 Knots
My nerves were put to the test during my First night shift from 10 pm to midnight, with a looming ship crossing our path. Ever the supportive partner, Ryan joined me, turning what could have been anxiety into a shared experience of wonder. A dolphin playfully danced in our wake, and the sunset painted the sky with hues of orange, resembling the biggest, brightest beach ball. A photo couldn't capture its true beauty – a moment to be cherished.

Cheers My Love
Ryan took the early morning shift from 4 am to 6 am, and by 8 am, we docked in Gijón. After refueling and a quick nap, us gals prepped some delicious breakfast while the guys gave Lucky Enough a refreshing scrub-down.
Eager to explore Gijón, we ventured into the old town, discovering a city brimming with charming corners and lively establishments.
Every nook seemed to host a restaurant or bar with a colorful backdrop, perfect for bachelor/bachelorette celebrations that painted the town in a festive glow.
Some Lucky Guy’s Bachelor Party
Exhausted from the day's adventures and aware of the late local dining customs, we returned to the boat for a siesta, recharging for the evening and opted for a relaxed dinner at a local restaurant called Océan.
Despite Byron's persuasive attempts to extend the night at what seemed to be the “local institution”, we bid Gijón a contented "Good Night".
